Overview

The Program Management Professional (PgMP)® certification, offered by PMI, is an advanced credential that recognizes demonstrated leadership, experience, and performance in managing multiple, related projects that align with organizational objectives.

It validates the ability to oversee complex programs, manage interrelated projects, and deliver strategic benefits. The certification process involves two stages: a panel review of professional experience and a rigorous multiple-choice examination covering strategic alignment, program life cycle, benefits management, stakeholder engagement, and governance.

Prerequisites

To apply for the PgMP, candidates must meet one of the following eligibility criteria (experience must be within the last 15 years):

1. With a Secondary Diploma (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or global equivalent):

• Minimum of 96 months of professional business experience

• Minimum of 84 months of portfolio management experience

2. With a Four-Year Degree (bachelor’s degree or global equivalent):

• Minimum of 96 months of professional business experience

• Minimum of 48 months of portfolio management experience

3. With a Master’s Degree or Equivalent:

• Minimum of 96 months of professional business experience

• Minimum of 48 months of portfolio management experience

Exam Format

• 170 questions, multiple choice

• 4 hours’ duration

• English
